Public Record: Conclusion of the Milan “Metropol” Proceedings

This notice is published for the sole purpose of ensuring that the publicly available record concerning Gianluca Meranda accurately reflects the final procedural outcome of the Milan investigation commonly referred to in the media as the “Metropol” case.

On 27 April 2023, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Milan accepted the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office’s request for dismissal and ordered the dismissal of the investigation in respect of Gianluca Meranda.

Accordingly, the investigation concerning Mr Meranda did not proceed to trial and resulted in no criminal conviction.

The closure of the investigation, including Mr Meranda’s position, was publicly reported on 27 April 2023 by ANSA and RaiNews, among other national news organisations.
